If you wish to be fitted with an NHS funded prosthesis you need to contact your local NHS Prosthetist. You will then be assessed individually by your centres multi-disciplinary team (MDT). This could include your Prosthetist, Consultant, Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.

Can you keep amputated body parts UK?

Following your surgery your limb can be stored for up to 28 days. You or your family will need to make arrangements for the collection of your limb from the mortuary. It can be collected by yourself or appointed family member but some funeral directors may also offer this service for a charge.

Can you drive with a prosthetic right leg?

First and foremost, some individuals can drive normally with their leg or foot prosthetic device, and thus require no special vehicle modifications. Secondly, a person may need to make slight modifications if they have experienced a right leg amputation.
