Question: What company owns Bebo?

In 2008, the site was sold to AOL for $850 million. Users on the site began to decline rapidly due to the rise of Facebook, which saw Bebo passed over to Criterion Capital for $25 million in 2010, before being bought back by its creator in 2013 for $1m million.

Who makes Bebo?

Twitch TechCrunch has learned and confirmed that Bebo, one of the earlier platforms to let people share thoughts and media with their friends, has been acquired by Twitch, the streaming video platform owned by Amazon. Together the two will be working on building out Twitchs esports business, and specifically Twitch Rivals.

Why did Bebo shut down?

On April 7, 2010, AOL announced that it would either sell the website, or shut it down. This was mainly due to the falling numbers of unique users; Bebo users were moving to rival site Facebook.

Are Bebo accounts deleted?

Due to the transition to and from AOL, some users stopped visiting the site regularly. Consequentially, their accounts have been disabled and removed from the Bebo archive. To access the old content, you first must download the Bebo application from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
