Question: Can you stay with someone who has HIV?

Rest assured that people with HIV can live at home and maintain a normal social life. Since the virus is not spread by casual (i.e., non sexual) household contact, family members, roommates, and visitors are not at risk of becoming infected.

What are you going to do if your partner is HIV positive and you are not?

If you had unprotected sex or shared needles with your partner in the last 72 hours, tell your doctor. They may prescribe medicine for you to help prevent infection. Doctors call this emergency treatment PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis).
