Question: What happens at a private baby scan?

What can I expect from a private scan?

The sonographer will take a detailed look at your babys heart, brain, bones, spinal cord, face, kidneys and abdomen to check for a range of conditions. Not all problems can be detected by the anomaly scan, but if the sonographer sees any cause for concern, youll be told there and then.

Do I need to take my pregnancy notes to a private scan?

For all Growth and Presentations scans and Anomaly scans, hospital notes are needed. For most early pregnancy reassurance scans, gender scans and 4d scans, hospital notes are not required.

Whats the earliest you can have a private scan?

Early Pregnancy Scans can be performed any time from 7 to 11 weeks of pregnancy. These dates are calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period.

Can you bring someone to a pregnancy scan?

You may attend your anomaly (20 week) scan with one named partner. Please check-in to your appointment alone, due to limited waiting room areas. When you are called for your scan, please text your partner/support person to join you. We ask that he/she waits until this text is received before entering the hospital.

When do you have to tell employer pregnant?

Legally, you need to tell your employer that youre pregnant at least 15 weeks before your due date; this is known as your notification week. However, its likely youll want to tell them before this, in part because its fantastic news, but also because youll want to take time off for antenatal appointments.
